A NOTE FROM THE VILLAGE PRESIDENT

The spring of 2006 has been ushered in with unusually warm temperatures even though this last winter was generally mild. The seasonal transition is always welcome with nature’s change to green another life cycle begins.

This summer the Village will witness two major municipal projects. The long awaited sewer plant upgrade will be completed along with a street project consisting of all the streets in the Mobile Home Park.

The wastewater treatment plant is progressing on schedule with the completion date of August 25, 2006. Certainly everyone has noticed all the activity taking place at the plant. Please feel free to contact me with questions concerning the progress of the plant upgrade.

The Mobile Home street project will begin after the Roberts Community Garage Sales, approximately June 20. It has been questioned why we are doing such a large project all in one year. Believe it or not the total project cost was about $400,000 less when done all at once compared to two years. It is the intention to now not do a street project in 2007. I am sure that there will be a lot of inconvenience but the finished results should be well worth it.

Commercial growth continues to take place. The businesses that have come to Roberts certainly are an asset to the community. The Commercial needs that Roberts has are steadily being satisfied.

I would like to thank Lana Delsart and Matt Delander for their years of service to the Roberts Village Board. Along with this goes a congratulatory message to Terry Dull and Nate Stork for their election victories to the Board. I am looking forward to working with the entire Village Board in the coming year.

If I can be of any assistance, please contact me at 749-3126 or come to my office at the Village Hall.

Sincerely,
Willard Moeri

Spring Clean-up Day

April 22, 2006 – 7:00 AM-1:00 PM
Spring cleanup is scheduled for Saturday, April 22, 2006 at Onyx, 100 Packer Drive, Roberts. Permits are required. The permit will have a charge of $10.00. There will be a charge for appliances – white goods (i.e. Refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, etc. Please see the enclosed list for amounts. You can obtain a permit at the Roberts Village Hall – 107 E. Maple Street between 7:30 AM and 4:30 PM. This is only for Village of Roberts residents. Any questions, please call 749-3126.

Park Building

Are you planning a graduation, wedding, special event or just a party? Check out the Village Park Building. A serving area has been added for your convenience. If interested call the Village Clerk at 749-3126.

Burning Within the Village Limits

Burning is not allowed in the Village unless you have a burning permit. Permits are issued by the Village Clerk.

Call the Fire Chief at 749-3425 to have your burning site approved. If the site is approved, he will notify the Clerk and then she will issue the permit. If you have questions, please contact either the Fire Chief or the Village Clerk.

House & Business Numbers

All homes and businesses are required to have a number on the building. The numbers for a home should be of a contrasting color from the house and at least 3” high. For a business the numbers should be at least 4” high and of contrasting color.

Water/Sewer Billing

The Village has considered monthly water/sewer billing. At this time, monthly billing is not cost effective. Therefore, we are offering for the Village residents to pay monthly on their own.

An example would be if you have a $180.00 water/sewer bill due by April 26th, you would pay that bill in full. In May and June, you would pay $60.00 per month and have July as the clean up month.

If you have any questions, please contact the Village Clerk’s Office.

Senior Center

The Roberts Senior Dining Site is open two days a week. Meals are served on Monday and Wednesday. The Senior Center has many activities planned. Contact Julie at 749-3755 for more information.

Severe Weather Siren

In the past few months, we have been experiencing problems with the siren test on the first Wednesday of the month. This has been repaired.

The first Wednesday of the month there is a test of the severe weather siren at 11:00 AM. Sometimes, the county dispatch is busy and it may be close to 11:00 AM. The purpose of the test is to make sure the siren is working. This siren would be the same siren for severe weather.

Street Lights

If you notice a street light that is blinking or completely out, please contact the Village Hall. The Village Clerk will report the street light to Xcel Energy and get it fixed.

Municipal Court Dates

The Municipal Court is up and running. If you are curious how it is run, you are more than welcome to attend. The Court is open to the public and starts at 6:00 PM. Dates are:

June 22
July 27
